Little Silver is a classic Two River commuter town of about 6,100 residents, known for its tree-lined streets, historic charm, and easy train ride into New York City’s Penn Station from its iconic 1890 train station, designed by renowned architect Henry Hobson Richardson. The town's roots run deep, such as the Parker Homestead, a National Historic site dating to 1665, is one of the oldest dwellings still standing in New Jersey. Much of Little Silver's land was once part of Lovett's Nursery, the largest on the East Coast in the late 1800s. Today, that agricultural history has given way to a quiet, family-friendly residential character, with a small-town downtown around Church Street and Willow Drive offering local boutiques, art studios, dance and music schools, and everyday conveniences within a short walk or drive. Multiple eateries throughout downtown and my favorite grab-and-go location, The Blonde Shallot, which also has a location in Sea Girt, was just awarded Bethany Frankel’s coveted “Gold Medal Best Chicken Salad’ in her series ”Chicken Salad Olympics”... Yes, that’s a thing.

Families are drawn to Little Silver's well-regarded public schools, Point Road School (PreK-4) and Markham Place School (5-8), with students moving on to nearby Red Bank Regional High School. The newly renovated and reopened Sickles Park anchors community life downtown, hosting local gatherings and events throughout the year, including the town's popular Fourth of July celebration, sponsored by the Little Silver Police Department with food, fire department demonstrations, and family fun. With its historic character, top-tier schools, and quiet, walkable streets just minutes from the Navesink River and neighboring Red Bank and Rumson, Little Silver offers a classic slice of small-town Monmouth County living with all the conveniences of the Two River area close at hand.
